The INTERNATIONAL DENDROECOLOGICAL LABORATORY WEEK is a seminar on applied tree-ring research. It is designed to give beginners to the discipline an introduction to basic principles and methodology, and to provide more advanced participants with an opportunity to engage in discussions with and learn from others. The main focus lies on presenting and discussing the state of the art and recent developments in laboratory tree-ring measurement and analysis methods as well as on demonstrating new equipment. Local organizers are Heinrich Spiecker and Fritz-Hans Schweingruber together with Regina Lauer, Hans-Peter Kahle, and Philipp Duncker.

Participants:

The conference is designed to bring together specialists involved in tree-ring research as well as providers of tree-ring analysis methods and equipment from various countries. The number of participating students is limited to 25. In order to get credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) the students have to pass a written examination on the last day (Friday, 18 Feb. 2005).

 

Seminar Format:

The seminar language will be English. The seminar will include oral presentations of papers, posters and demonstrations. There will be two days of scientific presentations, discussions, poster sessions and demonstrations, and an excursion to experimental sites at the foothills of the Black Forest as well as a two days lasting workshop for students.

Call for papers and posters:
All scientists interested in participating are invited to submit the
online-registration form.
In case you wish to present a paper or poster within the terms of  the conference please provide an abstract which must not exceed one  page and must contain  the names of authors with titles and addresses.  Please send your abstract at your earliest convenience to:

deadline for submitting the registration  form and abstracts is 1 Feb. 2005 .

Materials:
The speakers should bring their own objects for demonstration. Abstracts of papers and posters will be distributed via internet prior to the seminar.   

ARRANGEMENTS          

Travel:
Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements to Freiburg. Transport during the excursion will be provided.

Meals:
For lunch, participants have the option of eating in the dining hall at
Freiburg University

Facilities:
The conference rooms are equipped with an overhead projector. Slide and video including LCD-projection facilities as well as PCs will be available.

Accomodation:
The seminar venue is close to the city centre of Freiburg. Please take care for the arrangement of your accomodation by yourself. You may fill in the form (hotel categories)with the company FIT Freiburg Incoming and Touristik and return it directly to FIT by fax.
